Manbey Grove
A family home in Maryland, Stratford, is remodelled with sustainable features and connections to nature across its bright new oak-clad extension.
With owners who love gardening and are passionate about sustainability, Manbey Grove has been reconfigured to create a spacious home for the couple and their two young children.
Emil Eve’s design for the three-bedroom terraced house includes a rainwater harvesting system and highly-insulated external envelope to reduce energy consumption. A green roof has been specified for the rear extension and a charging point for the family’s electric car has been installed in the front driveway. An irrigated living wall brings nature inside and improves air quality.
On the ground floor, the new kitchen and dining area features a long window seat with large bifold windows opening out on to the garden. An irrigated living wall of pothos, ferns and philodendrons brings more nature into the space, while large rooflights flood it with natural light.
